Ecovacs Deebot X1 OMNI review: Cleaning lady
It took only five years for ECOVACS to become the market leader in Australia, and the latest X1 OMNI robotic vacuum cleaner and mop proves why.
ECOVACS provided us with a device for testing purposes, but this has not affected our opinion of the product.
Our reviews always remain independent of the manufacturer; the first time they see the study is when you read it. Could you keep reading to find out what we think?

How do I get it, and what does it cost?
The new ECOVACS flagship Deebot X1 OMNI is now available in black and white.
The DEEBOT X1 OMNI (Black) is available from Bing Lee, Godfreys, JB Hi-Fi, The Good Guys, and the ECOVACS official website for $2,499.
The DEEBOT X1 OMNI (White) is available through the ECOVACS webshop.
The DEEBOT X1 TURBO, which has many of the same features as the OMNI, is also available on Amazon and eBay for $2,099.
Who is it good for?
ECOVACS continues innovating in the robotic cleaning space with the Deebot X1 OMNI. With a vacuum cleaner and mop, the OMNI station collects dust, cleans dirty water, and dries the mopping pads.
The Deebot range has always delivered a stylish look and feel, but the latest model takes it up a notch. With a (large) beautifully designed station for the robot vacuum cleaner and the addition of a good mopping solution, the X1 is the all-in-one cleaning solution.
If this interests you, you must have a place to put the drive – something I struggled with during my time with the X1. I installed the station against the wall in the middle of the living room, as it was the only place it would fit. But it didn’t look out of business due to the fantastic design.
And while the Deebot X1 OMNI keeps your house clean, it can also keep an eye on things with an integrated security camera on the front – just like on previous models.
While the price is quite steep, the features the X1 offers at home may be worth it for those short on time to run a busy household – not to mention how well the whole package presents itself.
How does it work?
As mentioned, the X1 dock is large. This means you need to find space in your home to live comfortably. The good thing is that it is not obnoxious in design and tends to work with modern decor in the house.
There are two water pitchers in the dock – one for clean water and the other for used, dirty water when using the mop feature. There’s also some room for extra mopping pads and brush – and on the front is the vacuum filter bag (for all the dirt and dust).
The X1 OMNI has 5,000 Pa suction, object avoidance technology, and improved room allocation in your home. Regarding vacuuming, the X1 does a great job and picks up a surprising amount of dirt.
Then there’s the mopping, with two rotating pads that attach to the underside of the X1 to scrub floors. It’s one of the best implementations I’ve encountered, with the best results. The robot vacuum cleaner automatically switches to the correct mode when attaching the mopping pads. You only need to remove them to vacuum carpets or rugs.
Automatic detection of a dirty mop pad is also on board, with the X1 returning to the dock to clean the places before returning to complete the rest of the job. It’s very smart. While it won’t replace anything like a steam mop for floors that need extra love and attention, it will make your feet look much better than before the X1 launched.
There is also something new in the personal voice assistant, which can control the cleaning of your house with voice commands. If you’re more open to connecting it through your existing smart home, you can do that with Amazon’s Alexa integration.
And as with the previous Deebot models, there’s the ECOVACS app for Android and iOS, which gives you total control over cleaning modes, schedules, restricted zones, and areas to clean. The mapping is great and allows for a 3D version of your house – which is very cool.
There is also improved obstacle avoidance, which is why there is a large front camera on the X1 OMNI. It also allows house patrols to monitor areas of your home when you are not there. It’s worth noting that this model has no camera cover, which can be a turn-off for privacy-minded people. However, the camera is password protected and will sound like a warning when activated.
However, avoiding obstacles is not perfect. Smaller items like LEGO pieces, random bits of trash, and rope the kids left around the house can be a nuisance for the X1. At one point, I ended up with a LEGO person’s head in the filter.
What we think
ECOVACS Deebot X1 OMNI is an excellent device…if you have the money to invest. That is the simple solution for this robot mop vacuum.
When it comes to automating the cleaning process, the X1 OMNI does a fantastic job with minimal effort from you. Regarding design, ECOVACS has achieved a sleek and refined look that would not look out of place in the home. Yes, it’s bulky, but if you have the space, it’s not that noticeable after a while.
I also like the ECOVACS app, which provides everything you need from your phone and can control every aspect from anywhere – even remotely.
It comes down to the price, but the investment may be worth it so you can get some time back. The X1 OMNI is an all-in-one cleaning solution that does it well.
