Apple iOS 16 Software Updates: Changes to iMessage Mean Soon Users Can Edit or Retrieve Sent Texts

Apple has unveiled its latest mobile software, iOS 16, which includes new features that will change how users text friends via iMessage.
The tech giant has announced that users can edit or retrieve sent messages and mark read conversations as unread.

Apple Software Engineering Senior Vice President Craig Federighi said in a keynote address Monday that the updates were among the “highest requested” from users.
“These three features will make a big difference in how you use messaging daily,” he said.

There’s a catch, though, where users can edit or recall a message for only 15 minutes after it’s sent.
You can recover recently deleted messages up to 30 days after deletion.
Apple users have been asking for the change for years, with the ability to undo and edit sent texts already available on many other platforms.

Apple has also unveiled several new options to customize the lock screen better and improve the notification experience.
iPhone users can add widgets to the lock screen to get information such as upcoming calendar events and the weather at a glance.
You can also follow “live” activities, such as the progress of an Uber ride or sports updates, from the lock screen.
The iOS 16 update also brings more personalized lock screen wallpaper options and the ability to change your display throughout the day.
Changes are also coming for the Apple Watch, with new custom workout features and an improved sleep-tracking system.
A new medication app allows users to track and manage their medications and send notifications when they need to take a pill.

Extensive CarPlay options
Apple’s updates expanded into the wider ecosystem of products and services, from payments and passwords to cars.
The latest version of CarPlay is packed with custom widgets controlled by the iPhone that can run across all car screens, from the center screen to the instrument panel behind the wheel.
As with Apple’s other updates announced Monday, there will also be more widget support and personalization options, including different measurement cluster designs.
New health features
The company also continues to focus on health characteristics.
Apple Watch will soon support new custom training features, including heart rate zones and runner’s stride data.
In addition, improved sleep tracking will monitor when a user goes in and out of light and deep sleep.
A new medication app allows users to track, manage and understand the medications people are taking and alert users when to take them.
Apple has also unveiled Passkeys, intended to replace passwords with ug Touch ID or Face ID to authenticate on apps and devices.

New MacBooks and the M2 chip
Although the event focused on software, Apple did make some hardware announcements.
Apple introduced a thinner, lighter, faster MacBook Air, designed around its new internal M2 processor.
The 13.6-inch MacBook Air is 25 percent brighter than before, supports MagSafe charging, and has an improved front-facing camera with twice the resolution of the previous model.
With an 8-core CPU, Apple promises that the M2 chip promises 18 percent better performance than the M1 chip.
The processor also comes with a 10-core GPU — double that of the M1 — and 25 percent better graphics performance. The M2 is also coming as a new 13-inch MacBook Pro.
Apple also teased its latest Mac software, OS Ventura, which offers a handful of multitasking features, such as the ability to share Safari tabs with friends and family, relay FaceTime calls to other devices, and use an iPhone as a webcam. To use. with a new product called Continuity Camera.
